Senior Sport Psychologist and Mindfulness Specialist
Dr. Mariana Kaiseler is a Sport and Exercise Psychologist with over 15 years of experience in consultancy and research in psychology of performance and wellbeing. Particularly how to thrive under pressure and cope effectively with adversity.
After finishing her bachelor’s degree in Physical Education in Portugal, Dr. Kaiseler completed a M.Sc. in Sports Science, specializing in Sport & Exercise Psychology at Leeds Metropolitan University. Later Dr. Kaiseler was awarded a PhD bursary in Performance Psychology at University of Hull and completed an applied internship at IMG Academy in Florida. She was a postdoctoral fellow at department of Psychology University of Porto funded by a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship. Currently, she is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology in England.
Dr. Kaiseler applied work is informed by her research in coping with adversity and wellbeing across performance and health contexts. She has published over 30 peer reviewed papers, presented findings in several international scientific conferences, frequently invited speaker at industry events and acts as an adviser for the European Commission in Mental Health, Sport, and Wellbeing. Dr. Kaiseler has an inclusive and multicultural approach to practice gained through her lived experiences in Portugal, U.S.A and U.K. She works with coaches and elite athletes across a range of sports including tennis, athletics, football, golf, and rugby. She also works in recreational and health contexts supporting individuals to cope with adversity and finding meaning towards a healthier and active lifestyle.
Dr. Kaiseler offers psychological assessment and one to one support to facilitate understanding of yourself while strengthening the ability to cope effectively with adversity, maximising performance, and experience wellbeing. For some individuals this means maximising performance under pressure, others aim to build self-confidence and focus, while others simply aim to live a happier and fulfilling life. Dr. Kaiseler uses a person-centred integrative approach tailored to individual and environmental needs and aspirations, mainly informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) including mindfulness techniques.
