Dr. Andrea Pousada-Fitzpatrick is a Co-founder and Director in Omnia Mental Health Clinic and Senior Clinical Psychologist Consultant, Neuropsychologist and Neuroscientist with over 18 years of experience in private and public mental health centres and clinics, treating a wide range of psychological and neurological conditions.
Dr. Pousada-Fitzpatrick obtained a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a PhD in Neuroscience from University Complutense of Madrid. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the departments of psychiatry and neurology at Harvard University Medical School, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
She is an experienced clinical researcher in the field of mental health and neuroscience focusing on cognitive biomarkers, endophenotypes and clinical aspects of bipolar disorder, psychosis, personality disorders, ASD and ADHD using techniques such as Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Electroencephalography (EEG), Neurofeedback and Biofeedback. She has participated in several international scientific conferences presenting the results of her research and giving lectures and talks in different institutions.
As a Clinical Psychologist and Neuroscientist, Dr. Pousada-Fitzpatrick uses a holistic approach to explore the reasons underlying symptoms helping you to understand the issues that you are experiencing. Therefore, she practices from an integrative approach with a special focus on psychodynamic psychotherapy and brain functioning in combination with other neuroscience techniques. Her main goal is to assist you in exploring yourself, to find your strengths to enable you to overcome difficulties, developing strategies and coping skills in order to achieve your full potential and improve your quality of life.
Nowadays, she combines her clinical practice and work as a consultant along with her academic work as university Professor in American and European universities. She also participates regularly as a consultant in mental health and neuroscience in research grants using her expertise in research evaluation processes and reviews for the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) of the European Commission.
Dr. Pousada-Fitzpatrick lived in different countries such as US, Spain, Brazil, Germany and Ireland which allows her to work effectively from a multicultural perspective understanding how different aspects of a person’s cultural identity and environment might influence their mental health.
